[RINKO-KAKU【茶室】project]２０１９は、典型的な日本の数寄屋造りの臨江閣・茶室を、海外アーティストと日本人アーティストの友好を目的に、「ひとりのアーティストが”一日ごとの個展”を行い、三日間の”連続個展” 」として開催されました。展覧会の初日には、オープニングイベントとして、表千家ゆかりの「茶道 無径会」による本格的な茶会が華をそえました。

展覧会は、特別招待アーティストとして、ドイツ・デュッセルドルフ在住のマルティナ・クレイン氏を招聘し、本展覧会を企画運営した福田周平と宮崎優花の三名のアーティストによって構成しました。

茶会を含む四日間の会期中には、参加アーティストや一般鑑賞者、ゲストによるトークショーを行い、日本文化と欧州文化との融合から、その差異を導き出すことで新しい文化交流の在り方を提案するプロジェクトとして機能しました。 

日本の古典的で静寂に満ちた茶室建築の中で行われる”現代美術展”というユニークさは、 釘一本打てない文化財の中での特異な美術展であることや、茶会と現代美術の融合を実行すること、そして何よりも国際交流の視野にたった、”小さな国際美術展”を示唆する意味も併せ持っています。

　この展覧会は来年、再来年の三年間の継続するプロジェクトとして、２０１９年展からスタートし、「臨江閣[RINKO-KAKU【茶室】project]２０２０」と「臨江閣[RINKO-KAKU【茶室】project]２０２１」として、複数国のアーティストの招聘をおこないながらさらなる

展開を試みます。

The Rinko-Kaku “Tea Room” Project 2019 comes with a 1-day expo held by “certain artist” and a 3-day continuous solo expo, featuring the classic Japanese sukiya-style Rinko-Kaku and tea room, in efforts to encourage friendship between overseas and Japanese artists. On the first day, a full-scale tea ceremony was held by the Sado Mukeikai association of Omotesenke Yukari as the opening event which added a touch of color.

The expo was formed by special guest Martina Klein from Düsseldorf, Germany, planner, and manager Shuhei Fukuda, and Yuka Miyzaki.

During the 4-day period including the tea ceremony, the project served to propose a new way of cultural exchange by holding talk shows and deriving differences from a fusion of Japanese and European culture.

What’s unique about this contemporary art expo, held in a classic Japanese tea house architecture filled with serenity, is that it’s a peculiar art expo in a cultural property built without a single nail, a work of fusion between tea ceremonies and contemporary art, and also serves as a small international expo with a vision for international exchange above all.

As a project that will continue for three years including this year with the 2019 expo and the Rinko-Kaku “Tea Room” Project in 2020 and 2021, we will continue to open more expos while inviting artists from multiple countries.
